The Financial Accounts Chamber of the Parliament of Ukraine, investigating NTKU’s activities in 1998, revealed the facts of financial violation and offences against law. UT-1 TV channel translated ad commercials, which were not paid for. Among the “debtors” are: “IP Kiev” (Hr 2,447 thousand), “Prioritet”, Ltd. (Hr 438 thousand), “International informational agency “IBA “ ( Hr 301,8 thousand).

(“Den”, 12/03/99, p. 9 )
In the article “What Alexandr Deyneka was killed for ?” you can find the most probable version of the murder -- “He knew too much”. When being director of NTKU, Kniazhitsky held financial audits of NTKU’s activities and revealed the same facts of financial violation as the Financial Accounts Chamber of the Parliament of Ukraine did. This information with the request for public prosecutor’s revision was delivered in the Supreme Soviet by Kniazhitsky’s adviser in NTKU, Alexander Deyneka.

(“Fakty”, 12/03/99, p. 3 )
The official procedures of Berezovsky’s retiring from the post of the executive secretary of CIS are postponed. Yesterday, Berezovsky disproved mass media’s announcements that he had submitted an application for resignation from the post of the executive secretary of CIS.

Alexandr Lukashenko (“Den”, 12/03/99, p. 1,2; “Segodnia”, p. 4 )
Lukashenko, after arriving for an official visit to Kiev, is planning to discuss economic questions with President Kuchma and seek to increase commodity trading up to $ 2 billion per year. In July 1999, the five year term of President Lukashenko’s plenary powers will end, but he is not going to take part in presidential elections ’99 being prepared by opposition. Lukashenko has issued an order to arrest all the member of the Central Electoral Committee ’99 and is expected to ask for Kuchma’s support. But most likely, Kuchma’s reaction will be very restrained. The parties intending to support Kuchma at the elections will not permit him to get closer with Lukashenko.

Pavlo Lazarenko (“Kiyevskiye Novosti”, 12/03/99, p. 3 ; “Ukraina Moloda”, p. 4 )
Lazarenko’s lawyer in the United States announced that Lazarenko intended to take part in presidential elections’99 as Gromada’s presidential candidate. MP Omelchneko (People’s deputy of Ukraine, former head of the Parliamentary Committee for Struggle with Corruption and Organized Crime, member of the deputy investigating commission) appealed to the government, congressmen and senators of the United States in his “open” letter. He also agreed to bear witness for Lazarenko’s case in the Court.
